About
The
Artist.

David S. David, Goli to friends and family, is David2yGoliath when it concerns his art. This eponym embodies the fusion of his precise and structured nature with his bold and instinctive style. As David and Goliath, he discovers the equilibrium necessary to create and to pursue wonder.

A contemporary painter based in Southern California, David2yGoliath delves in oil and acrylic, primarily on canvas and plywood surfaces. His artistic journey commenced later in life, in 2014 painting for himself until 2023 when he showed to close friends and family in June 2023.

Born to Filipino parents in the Philippines and the youngest of thirteen siblings, he was educated in the University of the Philippines system in Diliman, David traversed his formative years from K-10 and culminated his academic pursuits with a BS degree from the UP School of Economics. After graduating, he migrated to the United States and has since established his life in California where he resides with his wife and two sons.

Besides painting, David2yGoliath finds solace and inspiration in culinary arts, motorcycle riding, racing and maintenance, and playing golf. Painting mirrors these other passions—an amalgamation of technical precision and intuitive flair. It is akin to his daily ritual, serving as both a prescription pill against stress and an energy supplement.

David2yGolaith first drew his artistic inspiration from his brother, Architect Nestor David, whom he fondly refers to as #2, being the second eldest sibling. Nestor is a retired environmental architect and former instructor at the University of the Philippines’ Department of Architecture is a skilled sketch artist who uses pencil, ink and pastel and occasionally paints.  An indelible mark was also left by his maternal grandfather, Victoriano Siongco, a sculptor and purveyor of religious artifacts in San Fernando Pampanga until his passing in 1980, whose legacy continues to shape David2yGoliath’s art.
